Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I see that the Draco SBR has a barrel length of 11.5", which according to the BATF makes it a Short Barreled Rifle. Can I still buy one at a gun store?
A: Not exactly. Since an SBR falls into the category of NFA (National Firearms Act) weapons, you must submit an ATF Form 4 to the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and await approval. Upon approval of your Form 4, Attero Arms can transfer the weapon to you. For the Form 4 application, click here. Additionally, the internet has many good resources to help you fill out your Form 4.
Q: What's so special about your optics mount? Aren't there already lots of ways to put optics on an AK?
A: While there are other options, none of them satisfied Attero's requirements for acceptable mounts. The mounts that clamp onto the side of the receiver, and then come up and over, are not only too heavy and interfere with the lines of the weapon, but they put the optics too high off the receiver. This forces the operator to choose between a good cheek weld and a good sight picture. The second option is to get handguards with a rail, and mount the optics "scout style" on the handguards. Not only does this choice ruin the weapon's lines as well, but it makes the reticle seem enlarged and sometimes fuzzy. Additionally, it will make the weapon much more muzzle-heavy.
The Attero solution solves all of these problems. By replacing the rear sight leaf with our mount, a micro optic sight can be placed just a hair above the receiver cover. This allows the operator a good cheek weld and good sight picture while maintaining the same looks, weight, and balance that that earned the AK its reputation. The mount's integrated rear sight also ensures the operator will never be relying solely on electronics.
Q: Can your optics mount have larger optics fitted to it such as an EOtech HWS, Aimpoint M68, or a Trijicon ACOG?
A: We do not offer a mount to fit these larger sights. This is for several reasons. First, the smaller sights are lighter and change the balance of the weapon less. Second, the larger optics are wider and protrude from either side of the receiver, making them more likely to snag on slings or other gear. Lastly, most of these sights force your eye to be higher off the receiver for good sight picture, defeating the entire purpose of the mount. For these reasons, we deemed the micro optics to be a better fit. However, we can make custom mounts if a customer is set on the larger optics.

Q: Why does Attero Arms only sell a limited number of products?
